Locations of Range Red Warning Flags
- is the flagpole by the cattle grid. A red flag must be hoisted during all shooting. On the horizontal steel arm attach the notice which has a fixed side and a reversible side. The fixed side ("No restrictions beyond this point") must be facing North-ie towards Glen Tilt, for the benefit of walkers coming up from Gilbert's Bridge. For short range shooting (600 yds or shorter) the other side, facing Blair Atholl, should read "It is safe to pass through the range today....." (The side reading "Stop..etc is only for use during shooting at 900 yds and beyond).
- is the butt flag, stored in the main target shed. It must be in place for all shooting. It goes on the left side of the top of the buttstop. Go up between the targets and the butt stop and take the ill-defined path into the trees, curving round to the right to come out on top of the butt stop. Take the iron plug from the socket and insert the flagpole. (Replace the plug when the flag is taken down.)
- is a flagpole at the small bridge about 50m short (south) of Gilbert's bridge, at the side of the track. There is a green socket for the pole itself, which should be lying in the grass. For all shooting, attach the flag and insert the pole into the socket. Make sure the pole is taken down after shooting.
NOTE:
THERE IS ALSO A METAL BARRIER WHICH FITS INTO STANCHIONS CLOSE TO THIS BRIDGE. IT WILL ALSO BE LYING IN THE GRASS. THIS BARRIER MUST NOT BE USED DURING SHORT RANGE (600yds OR LESS) SHOOTING, AS IT PREVENTS ACCESS BY OTHER USERS AND RESIDENTS. - *(when firing from 1,200yds) along with barrier across road adjacent to 1,200yds firing point.
